Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC) implements a Y-ENGAGE research project focusing on increasing young people’s involvement in climate change awareness, agency, and action in schools and their communities. The project involves young people of the age ranging 12-24 years in a participatory research manner in collaboration with Ph.D. students from UDSM, ARU, and UCPH.
The project intends to increase young people’s involvement in climate change in understanding and interpreting the pre-disaster, climate change mitigation, and adaptation to specific problems in their areas hence identifying the effects that Climate Change brings in socio-economic activities.
Y-ENGAGE project is implemented in 6 areas including Rufiji, Mtwara, Ikungi, Dar-es-Salaam, Kiteto, and Longido.
At the end of the project, it is expected that activities implemented would influence Young People to apply and transform climate-related practices and ways of coping with climate change at home and in their communities hence the establishment of Young people in CC Studies’ Lab through a south-south collaboration for sustainability.
