Partner: Engagement Global, Germany; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), Germany
Funded by: Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Germany
The African-German Youth Initiative (AGYI) has set itself an objective of promoting exchanges between young people in African countries and Germany as a political initiative set out under instruction from the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ – Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and the African Union Commission (AUC).
Coordination with the AGYI is the responsibility of Engagement Global gGmbH – Service für Entwicklungsinitiativen. It is in contact with numerous stakeholders who carry out programs and projects within the field of youth exchange and voluntary service in African countries. The AGYI is gradually developed together in close collaboration with such stakeholders in African countries and in Germany.
Benin, South Africa, and Tanzania were selected as pilot countries for establishing the African partner structure in which the AGYI has been collaborating with the civic implementation organizations Young Beninese Leaders Association (YBLA), Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA), and Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC).
